Tom Michaliga

Tom Michaliga

Owner & Mason

Some people are born to do what they do, and Tom Michaliga is one of them. Enrolled in trade school to learn all the building trades, Tom’s teachers saw something special in him when it came to masonry. He won numerous First Place awards throughout school in competitions from Nashville to New York. By the age of 17 Tom was already starting his own business, and just a few years later was building houses in Annapolis when he was recruited by the Architect of the Capitol at that time, George White, to be the Head Mason for the U.S. Capitol Senate Buildings.

Tom remained in that post until 1996 when his passion for historic restoration led him back into business for himself, specializing in the detailed renovation of period structures on Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Kalorama, Chevy Chase and Bethesda. Every chance he got Tom went to Europe to study architecture and masonry in some of the most beautiful cities in the world, always returning home inspired and motivated to create and restore memorable masonry, from historic homes to custom patios, water features, fireplaces and hardscaping.
